Duffy Boat Transport

Moving a Duffy between harbors, to a new home, or into the yard for work. Our own truck, our own Duffy-specific trailer, and our own crew — insured from your slip to the far dock.

Duffys are wide for their length and they sit on a hull shape that doesn't tolerate being badly supported. A trailer set up for a ski boat will put the load in the wrong places, and the damage shows up later as stress cracks around the bunks. We run bunk trailers set up specifically for Duffy hulls, and the same two people load, drive, and launch every job.

What's included

  • Pickup from your slip, lift, driveway, or storage yard
  • Loading and strapping on a Duffy-specific bunk trailer
  • Full transit insurance for the value of the boat
  • Launch and slip delivery at the far end
  • Canopy and curtain removal and refitting where clearance requires it
  • Short-term storage between legs when the dates don't line up
  • Photo inspection at pickup and at delivery, sent to you both times

Where we go

Anywhere in our 40-mile service area as a standard rate job — Huntington Harbour, Sunset Beach, Seal Beach, Alamitos Bay, Long Beach, Newport, Balboa, and Dana Point. Beyond that we quote by the mile, and we do a steady trade in longer runs to San Diego, Marina del Rey, Lake Havasu, and the Colorado River.

What we need from you

Slip number and gate access at both ends, and a phone number that will actually be answered on the day. If the harbor requires a hoist we'll book it — most do, and their schedules fill up, so a week's notice makes everything cheaper and calmer than a two-day scramble.

Buying or selling a boat?

We move a lot of boats for private sales, and we can act as the neutral pair of eyes at pickup — photographing condition at handover so neither side is relying on memory. If you're buying, ask us about a pre-purchase inspection at the same time.

Moving house, not harbors? Driveway-to-driveway and driveway-to-storage moves are quoted the same way. The boat doesn't need to touch water at either end.

Typical pricing

How it works

Four steps, no surprises on the invoice

  1. Quote

Tell us the pickup and drop points, your dates, and whether either end needs a lift. You get a firm number, not a range.

  2. Schedule

We book the hoist and confirm harbor access and gate codes at both ends, so nothing stalls on the day.

  3. Haul

Loaded, strapped, photographed, and driven by the same crew that will launch it.

  4. Deliver

Launched or set down, then a walk-around with you and a second set of photos for the record.

Common questions

Duffy Boat Transport, answered

Is the boat insured while you have it?

Yes — full transit coverage for the value of the boat, from the moment it leaves the water until it's back in. We'll send the certificate before the job if you'd like to see it.

Do I need to be there?

No. Plenty of our moves happen while the owner is at work or out of state. You get photos at both ends, and we'll call if anything at all looks different from what was described.

Can you move it with the canopy up?

Usually not — bridge and overpass clearance decides that, not us. Dropping and refitting the canopy is part of the standard service and there's no extra charge.

Can you store it for a few weeks?

Yes. We keep short-term space at the yard for boats between legs, or for owners waiting on a slip to open up.

Do you move boats other than Duffys?

Up to about 26 feet and 9 feet of beam, yes. Beyond that you want a dedicated hauler, and we'll happily point you at one we trust.
